Canada’s backlogs remain at the same position with 1,815,628 backlogs. The backlogs include the application from visitors, temporary workers, permanent residents, future citizens, and international students. The number of applications in December was 1,813,144 and in February was 1,815,628. The growth of application within 48 days was 2,484. However, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are processing these applications and taking their time to reduce the number of backlogs. The Canada immigration office in Chennai provides assistance for the candidates to process their applications.
Listed below are the data offered by IRCC regarding the backlogs, landings, and conversions.
Signs of improvement:
The list of permanent residents from the economic class and family class is reduced significantly. The number of applications from the economic class as of October was 255,587 and was decreased by 230,573 as of February. Similarly, the application from the family class was significantly reduced from 111,443 to102,222 in February.
The IRCC also started to process FSWP applications by 800 applications per week. The FSWP was Canada’s immigration from 1967 to 2021. However, IRCC paused calling the FSWP program candidates to reach the immigration plan. The IRCC’s goal was to land the in-Canada applicants to reach the immigration plan of 2021. IRCC achieved the last year’s target and exceeded the target by 5000 candidates.
IRCC started to process the FSWP at a higher rate as the Canadian Government lifted the immigration restrictions. Similarly, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applications are also reduced, and now only 15,100 applications are there to process. But the Express Entry draw for the CEC and FSWP is paused currently and will resume as soon the number of backlogs reduces to the maximum level.
It is also to be noted that the permanent residence growth was mainly due to invitations of PNP from Canadian territories. The family class applications were mainly down only by the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).
Thus, IRCC is taking necessary efforts like hiring the processing staff, digitalizing the application, and related works to improve the immigration services. The Canadian Government is trying to achieve 147,000 permanent residents within the 2022’s first quarter.
