IRCC has just announced the Parents And Grandparents Program (PGP) 2022 application intake process. As well, drawing from the autumn 2020 interest to sponsor pool, Canada will hold a PGP draw once again. Also, the IRCC will plan to issue ITA over the following two weeks to 23,100 interested probable sponsors.
In addition, the IRCC has said under the sponsorships PGP 2022, this number is enough to accomplish its goal of accepting up to 15,000 complete applications. Moreover, the invitations will start advancing this week.
The IRCC will draw candidates from those who show their sponsoring interest for their parents in autumn 2020. Also, it said several 155,000 potential sponsors are remaining in the pool. Back then, these sponsors were given three weeks to express their interest by completing an IRCC website form. Then the IRCC conducted a draw and accepted from a similar pool to accept 30,000 extra applications from the PGP 2021 pool.
PGP Eligibility
You are qualified to sponsor your parents and grandparents if:
- You completed on IRCC’s website an interest to sponsor form between noon ET on October 13, 2020, and 12 PM ET on November 3, 2020.
- You have to be a minimum of 18 years old.
- You live in Canada.
- You are a permanent resident, Canadian citizen, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
- You have sufficient money to fund the people you want to sponsor (by indicating you meet the Minimum Necessary Income).
For the PGP. the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) is a major eligibility aspect. Also, enough income proof is having to be provided only after interest in sponsorship has been shown through the online form. However, candidates who are nominated and invited to apply and who do not meet the least necessary income requirement will see their application rejected.
Sponsors across Canada (in every province and territory excluding Quebec) who are invited to apply and their co-signers (if applicable) will have to offer Notices of Assessment from the CRA for each of the three assessment years instantly preceding their Application date.
Interested sponsors will need to determine the size of their family to ensure that they meet the lowest required income necessities, which includes all people for whom they will be economically responsible once they become sponsors, including:
- The involved sponsor;
- Their common-law partner or spouse;
- Their dependent kids;
- Their partner’s or spouse’s dependent kids;
- Any other individual the interested sponsor may have funded earlier, for whom they’re still economically responsible;
- The parents and grandparents they want to sponsor and their dependents;
- Any dependent kids who won’t arrive in canada with their parents or grandparents;
- Their parent or grandparent’s spouse or partner, even if they won’t enter Canada;
- Their parents or grandparents’ parted spouse.
As the income loss that many people would face during the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRCC is reducing its MNI thresholds for both the 2021 and 2020 calendar years by 30% when compared to what it would usually be. Furthermore, IRCC is permitting typical Employment Insurance profits and provisional COVID-19 to be calculated toward a sponsor’s revenue.
Quebec Sponsors
Based on the territory’s income necessities, Canadians who live in Quebec as well as want to sponsor a parent or grandparent have their income assessed by the Ministry of Quebec immigration.
The Quebec Government and IRCC need the interested sponsor’s signed undertaking. Also, this responsibility sets out how long the sponsor will be economically responsible for their family members as they support them since the people become Canadian PR.
Apart from that, the parent’s and grandparent’s undertaking length is 20 years for Canadian regions except for Quebec. Also, the commitment duration is 10 years for Quebec residents.
Super Visa
Canadian parents and grandparents may also be qualified to apply for the super visa. In addition, it is applicable for 10 years and permits the visa holders to stay in Canada as a visitor for 5 years without requiring them to renew their documents.
