Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have released data regarding the status of the Express Entry pool. The Express Entry system is an immigration option where skilled workers are allowed to immigrate to Canada. It is managed by the Federal Government of Canada and has various immigration programs associated with it.
The candidates can submit their profile under any program and enter the Express Entry pool. The programs managed by the Express Entry pool are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Similarly, PNP is another program managed by the Canadian provinces and territories.
It allows the candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada or settle in a particular province to nominate themselves. Want to know more about the immigration program? Check out Aramvisas Canada immigration office in Chennai for an immigration solution.
Backlogs:
The FSWP and CEC in the Express Entry show the highest number of backlog candidates who are waiting for their permanent residence. IRCC has not been calling FSWP candidates since December 2020 and shifted its focus to CEC and PNP candidates. Before 2019, IRCC used to invite 40% FSWP candidates, and after the pandemic, Canada invited only CEC and PNP candidates. The reason is the Federal government has promised to meet the immigration plan and focus on candidates who were already in Canada.
IRCC even stopped inviting CEC candidates and targeted only the PNP category. As a result, the CEC backlogs increased to 20% resulting in 38,223 backlogs and 154,421 in FSWP. The Express Entry profiles are valid for only one year and if not selected within the duration, they have to re-submit the application. Since there is no invitation for FSWP and FSTP, most of the candidate’s profiles might have expired.
Expectations in 2022:
To tackle the backlogs, Canada is expected to increase the immigration level and intends to welcome 411,000 immigration candidates in 2022. The Federal Government has promised this year’s draw will be a mix of different programs and categories. The Atlantic Immigration Pilot is expected to turn into a permanent program in 2022. Thus, FSWP, FSTP, and CEC candidates will benefit from these changes.
