PNP draws continue as the resumption of FSWP and CEC applications approaches in July. Canada conducted a new round of invitations on May 25, inviting 589 Express Entry applicants to apply for permanent residence.
The minimum score to enter this draw was 741. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only invited applicants who had previously received a provincial nomination, which is why the minimum score was so high. Express Entry applicants who received a nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) automatically have 600 points from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) added to their base score.
This draw was slightly larger and had a lower CRS cutoff than the last one. In the last Express Entry draw, IRCC invited 545 PNP applicants with scores of 753 or higher.
According to Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, Express Entry invitations for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applicants will resume in early July. The minister also announced that the majority of new Express Entry applications will again be processed within the six-month period.
The draw for Express Entry applications for FSWP applicants has been on hold since December 2020, and the draw for CEC applications has been on hold since September 2021. Processing times for these programs are currently well above the IRCC’s six-month goal. IRCC has temporarily suspended draws for these candidates to provide resources to reduce the express entry backlog, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is the application management system for Canada’s 3 most well-liked immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. PNP candidates within the Express Entry pool have already qualified for a minimum of one in every one of these programs.
Express Entry uses a points-based system, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to evaluate applicant profiles. Applicants who score the highest receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then submit an application for permanent residency.
After the applicant submits their application, an IRCC official reviews the application and makes a decision. The official requests biometric data and may schedule an interview or request additional documentation.
If the application is approved, the IRCC issues a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). Approved permanent residents will then complete the landing method. If they are outside Canada, they can access pre-entry services to help them take the first steps in settling in Canada. In this way, in the event that you wish to migrate to Canada, make an Express Entry profile with the assistance of Immigration specialists. Contact Aramvisas now!
