In the fifth all-program, IRCC invites candidates to draw since July. Since July 6, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have assumed its fifth all- program Express Entry draw. IRCC issued 2,750 invitations to apply (ITA) recently and 516 was the Comprehensive Ranking System score (CRS) cut-off. Also, express Entry is one of Canada’s major immigration ways for skilled newcomers. There was no program specific for this draw, so the applicants from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) were qualified to be invited. For more than 18 months, IRCC paused all-program Express Entry draws, starting in December 2020.
Only candidates who qualified for permanent residence under the CEC or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were invited to apply, throughout this time. Although, CEC draws were also stopped in September 2021. The pause of the draws was in answer to a great number of permanent residence applications submitted whereas the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing. Canada’s border closed and travel rules changed often throughout this time.
This draw marks the biggest increase in ITA’s, up by 500, as all-program draws continue on July 6. Until today’s draw, the number of applicants getting ITAs has been increasing by precisely 250 with every draw. For example, the initial July draw invited 1,500 candidates, the next 1,750 and so on. There has also been a regular decline in the least CRS score, which has gone between eight or nine points each draw. The first least CRS score was 557.
Express Entry
For three Canadian immigration programs, Express Entry is the application management system: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants in the Express Entry pool are previously eligible for a least one of these programs.
To rank applicants’ profiles, Express Entry uses a points-based system; the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) The top-scoring candidates obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency. After the candidate applies, IRCC officers check the application and make a choice. The officer will request biometrics and may set up an interview or ask for more documents. Once this is complete, if approved, the applicant is now a permanent resident of Canada and one step nearer to becoming a Canadian citizen.
