Express Entry is Canada’s major way of bringing overseas skilled workers to the country through permanent residence. However, the structure of Express Entry’s bi-weekly draws is about to change. Continue reading this blog to know the changes.
Express Entry is Canada’s online system that is used to handle skilled worker applications from three diverse programs — the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) cumulatively.
As well, express entry is Canada’s significant way of bringing international skilled workers to this country via PR.
Express Entry Changes
As Canada competes to better address the specific labor shortages and Canada’s economy, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) needs to share its purpose to start conducting targeted Express Entry draws by 2023.
Based on the candidate’s occupation, these Express Entry draws, probably due to the newly approved Bill C-19, will purposely target them, language, and/or education to discover the Canadian permanent residence (PR) applicants that best help Canada grow and bloom.
Undecided as of the time of writing on the exact professional, language, or educational qualification classes that it will use to notify these new draw structures, IRCC says that it will “refer a huge range of investors to inform new groups in Express Entry” to eventually decide on the new format details.
What Does The Express Entry Change Mean?
At present, IRCC will remain leading Express Entry draws normally. Once every two weeks, a dynamic number of invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian PR will be given out to candidates based on their CRS scores and who applied over any of the three Express Entry programs — the CEC, the FSWP and/or the FSTP.
CRS scores have long been Canada’s crucial driver for selecting Express Entry applicants. These scores are now used to rank Canadian immigration aspirants based on some factors — including, but not limited to age, official language skill, and Canadian work experience, and ITAs are sent out accordingly.
As early as Q1 2023, but, the express entry system will change away from a CRS score focus, and conduct draws that let Canada welcome refugees. Also, it helps the country to focus more on finding specific areas of the labor market requirement and weakness.
In addition, these targeted draws have the end goal to strengthen Canada’s labor market and note a retention rate potential increment as people are coming in where they know they have chances since that was the base of their invitation to apply.
