Update from IRCC: There is great news for any Canadian citizen who wants to bring their parents or elders to the country. IRCC is going to issue 40,000 invitations (10,000 from 2020) under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). Now the residents will be able to get a Canada Visa Chennai for their family. This program has been very successful in recent years and following that, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Hon. Marco E.L. Mendicino has announced that the IRCC will be accepting record-high applications in the 2021 program.
Bringing together families is one of the key factors in keeping the immigrants happy and ensure their continued service to the country. Therefore, Canada has a special interest in this program.
IRCC will issue invitations to those who have already submitted their interest to sponsor in 2020. This process already started on September 20th, 2021, and will go on for about two weeks. Anyone who is found to be eligible will be given access to the Permanent Resident Digital Intake tool to submit their applications through the electronic medium. The digital mode of submission will speed up the process of evaluation. Those invited will have sixty days to submit their applications.
If someone is not invited, they can apply for a super-visa which will help their parents or grandparents to visit them for up to 2 years and are also allowed multiple visits for up to 10 years.
The sponsors should check the E-Mail that they gave in 2020 to know whether they have been selected. They can even do so online.
An income tax assessment for the years 2020, 2019, and 2018 will be conducted for those who are selected as sponsors.
