The government of Canada is expected to announce the recent Immigration Levels Plan by 1st November 2022.
To act as the guide for the number of immigrants that will be permitted to visit Canada each year, the IRCC issues an immigration-level plan. As well, it will include the immigrant’s breakdowns from economic class, family class, and humanitarian class programs over the next 3 years. Furthermore, it will expose the projections for 2023, 2024, and 2025 this year.
Additionally, as per the IRPA, which is Canada’s major immigration law, the Canadian government should make this immigration-level plan announcement by November 1 of every year. As well, it is the second immigration-level plan that is announced in 2022. The first one happened in February after the new federal election on 20th September 2021.
Two Announcements For This Year
Till February 2022, the 2022-2024 plan was not announced instead of the usually scheduled one due by November 1, 2021.
Assembly did not restart till November 22, 2021, After the election, which only sat for 19 days until the holiday break started. In these conditions, the plan must be announced within 30 days of Parliament resuming, according to IRPA. In this case, Parliament recommenced in mid-January 2022. As now the Assembly is in full swing, the Canadian government will progress with releasing the latest Immigration Levels Plan on its regular list.
The Present Immigration Level Plans
In 2022, Canada has been aiming to take 431,645 new permanent residents to total overall immigration classes, under the Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-2024. Also, this target progressively rises into 2024 for a total of 451,000 new permanent residents.
So far in 2022, Canada has already welcomed more than 300,000 new PR. Most of these immigrants are from economic class programs. Also, the aim for economic class immigrants in 2022 is 241,850, or around 60% of the total number of immigrants. The 2022 plan further aims for 105,000 family-class immigrants and 8,250 from the refugee and humanitarian class. Once the new plan is announced for 2023-2025.
Once the 2023-2025 new Immigration levels Plan is announced, these targets may all vary and are no longer used as the reference point for IRCC immigration aims.
Things Can Be Expect
Typically, the Immigration Levels Plan contains new increases and is currently at its highest levels ever. The present overall goal for 2023 stands at 447,055 before a very uncertain rise to 451,000 in 2024. In addition, the IRCC works with numerous other administrative departments and investors to create an Immigration Levels Plan that is stable in how permanent resident’ spots are assigned in each class and subsequent program.
