Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Minister Sean Fraser has announced that Canada will introduce a new immigration pathway. This will object to linking employers in Canada with skilled refugees and displaced people. Moreover, this way will be accessible under the federal EMPP (Economic Mobility Pathway Pilot).
He made this incredible announcement in a speech in Toronto on March 27, 2023. This EMPP is all set to launch during this forthcoming summertime. As well, this pathway stands to support employers to hire skilled refugees, and other forced immigrants.
It sets such persons with Canadian employers who are required to overcome labor shortages in main occupations.
The new pathway launching this summer will give employers more chances to find following in-demand occupations
- Nurse aids
- Software engineers
- Personal support workers
- Long-term care aids
- Web designers
- Mechanical and electrical engineers and technicians
- Tourism and hospitality workers
- Teachers
- Truck and delivery service drivers
With the new pathway, the EMPP will take in a more flexible method to eligibility by letting applications from other displaced persons who want a strong resolution and who require global protection apply.
Canada is looking to expand the EMPP over the next numerous years and invite 2,000 eligible immigrants and displaced people to fill labor shortages through the EMPP.
For this year 2023, IRCC is looking to welcome 465,000 new PR (Permanent Residents) this year according to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023 to 2025. Likewise, this goal is set to increase to 485,000 migrants in 2024, and 500,000 migrants in 2025.
Last year (2022), Canada welcomed around 437,000 refugees. As well, for the last year, for the first time in history, Canada’s immigration number record levels, combined with record overseas student and worker admissions, resulted in the country’s population growing by over one million people.
Canada’s determined immigration goals are mainly pointed at addressing the nation’s high number of labor shortages. Canada also provides more than 100 diverse economic class immigration ways.
The important economic class pathway is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which allows provinces and territories to classify applicants who meet their local economic requirements. As well, the Express Entry system is the leading federal pathway. Both the PNP and express entry pathways have been seeing more recent activities. Four provinces announced their latest PNP results over the past week.
In the meantime, over the past two weeks, IRCC has held two major Express Entry draws inviting 14,000 candidates in all to apply for Canadian PR.
