A little story
Prior to the Federal Skilled Worker Program immigration officers made the call on whether the particular candidate was fit for the Canadian market. This paved the way for partiality where eligible and good candidates could not enter the Canada Permanent Residency process. To put a stop to this practice, the first point system was introduced, that is, FSWP was introduced in 1967 which put a stop to unfair practices. Thereafter, candidates were selected based on their age, education, certification, language, work experience, and so on.
What is the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
FSWP is a skilled worker program that allows international students to apply when they have one year of work experience and qualifications such as language skills, age and so on. Canada welcomes thousands of people each year to join the Canadian workforce and you can also be one of them. As an applicant, you must also meet certain requirements to be eligible for this program.
What are the benefits of the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
Well, Canada aims to bring in over 1,10,000 applicants by 2024 and research by the Canadian government shows that people who immigrated via FSWP are living a successful life in Canada.
The processing time is much faster than other programs which is six months.
There is no need to have a current job offer from an employer in Canada to apply for this process. However, having one is beneficial because this will contribute to a higher CRS.
Eligibility Criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Continuous one year of experience or work experience equal to that is needed as per the terms of NOC (Teer 0, 1, 2, 3..)
2. Valid language assessment is needed which must be either English or French across all the genres such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
